Edward Lee is a PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo, advised by Ondřej Lhoták. He conducts research in programming language theory and compilers, currently on pragmatic type and type-and-effect systems for tracking side effects such as mutation and exceptions. His work has been generously supported and recognized by scholarships from the Province of Ontario and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
